Hi, I’m Candace. As you probably already know, I’m the founder, designer, organizer or whatever your little heart wants to call me of House of Paige. I started House of Paige for a couple of reasons. The first reason is because I learned that working for someone else just wasn't the type of career path that I wanted for myself. I’m creative (obviously!), proactive and a hustler. Did I really just write “hustler”? Ever since I was old enough to work and my parents kicked me off the Verizon family plan at age fourteen, I’ve busted my butt to make money and more importantly gain real life experience. I have created my own paycheck with almost every job I've ever had. And let me tell you, having to create your own paycheck is hard as shit. It teaches you a lot. It can be exhausting and stressful, but I live for it. I love that I am able to create my own schedule and rules. And as cliche as this sounds, I truly feel like I do what I love...and happiness my friends, is hugely important.
A few years ago I was given an extremely special opportunity that absolutely contributed to why I do what I do now. During that venture, I worked alongside the CEO and business development officer to build the company from the bottom up. I learned SO much and many, many things about myself. In addition to helping build the company, I was also the creative director. I oversaw, managed and performed all of the creative services that we offered - interior design, home organization, and event planning/styling. THIS is where I learned very quickly what I was put on this planet to do.
Fast forward to nearly three years in that role and unfortunately the company was looking to switch gears a bit. They decided to develop into something that didn’t quite interest me anymore. It was at that point that I woke up one day and said to myself, “why am I busting my butt, working tirelessly, putting in so much blood, sweat and tears for someone else when I could do this for myself. I could create a brand and company that is 100% me.” So, that’s what I did.
HOP is approaching its official 1 year anni (yay!) and I am blown away at how far this company has already come. We’re still very small (just me!) and absolutely figuring it all out as we go, but I’m amazed at how much I’ve already learned and developed.
Okay now onto some background info about me...
Part of the reason why I wanted to begin this blog was so that my readers, clients or not, could get to know me. Now, obviously people can get to know me via Instagram or Facebook but I feel like those platforms are just meant for quick snippets of life, work, people, etc. This profession forces me to be in people’s home, learn about their likes and dislikes, how they utilize their home, what colors and types of art they like, how many cooking utensils they like to jam into their kitchen drawers (yes, that is a real encounter that I experience very often), hell, I sort through my client’s undergarments. So, I think it’s only normal for me to let you learn more about me. For you to know what my favorite kitchen tools are, how I maintain a “tidy” home, what paint color I’m thinking about painting my guest room and even more about my personal life with my hubby, family and friends.
Speaking of personal life, why don’t I share a little bit about that!
I’m the youngest of three girls. My two sisters are twins and are just eighteen months older than me. We’re pretty much best friends. Yup, three girls only eighteen months apart. Cray, right?
We grew up in a suburb just twenty minutes south of the city. My sisters and I very similar in many ways, but one of the few differences amongst us is our career paths. While they were running around the state playing sports and making every honors class in high school, I was all like, let me play with my dolls and rearrange my bedroom furniture because I was “over” the existing layout. True story.
My parents are no longer together, but they both live close by to my sisters and I just outside the city. I love my family. I think family is the most important thing in life and I can’t wait to begin my own someday. Cue, my husband Pete. We just got married in September and were introduced to each other through one of my sisters and her soon to be hubby. So cute, right? Ha!
Pete and I live happily in South Boston, in a small but adorable 640 square foot apartment. We are weirdly the female and male versions of each other and it’s amazing. We enjoy a lot of the same things which makes life that much sweeter.
Now that I’ve shared some of my background info, I am so excited to kickoff this blog! I know I mentioned that I’ll be sharing things that will help you get to know me better but to be a little more transparent I’ll be touching on topics like:
- tips and tricks for an organized home
- design trends, advice and favorite home décor finds
- products that I love --> I swear by so many goodies that I CANNOT wait to share with you!
- cooking and recipes because well, I love food
- all things lifestyle
I'm super excited to begin this blogging journey. Most importantly, I'm excited to provide you with authentic and maybe even humorous content, that you can relate to and improve your life with.
You have no idea how nervous I am to dive into this wild world of putting my thoughts in writing on the INTERNET, but I'm going to be brave and do it because it's something that I've been wanting to do for a long time now.
