It's June 7th and I'm already talking about the kids going back to school, yikes! Why, you ask? Well, this sounds so cray and you might all be thinking, "what on earth is this b doing, making us think of getting ready to ship the kids off again?!" but I assure you I'm writing this post now because TIME FLIES if you haven't already noticed. And who knows maybe you're already exhausted at the thought of having them home for the WHOLE SUMMER. ; ) You know, eating all your food, leaving dirty dishes around and runnin' up your electric bill. Ugh.
Let's chat dorm rooms, shall we?
Dorm rooms can be tough to decorate. I mean, I know NONE of you moms or even dads really want to spend your last few weeks of summer running around the aisles of Target with your son, daughter or even both loading up carts of shit that might work (fingers crossed!) in their tiny dorm room.
Let's be real, this is a time where your son or daughter might be extremely excited to furnish and ultimately pick out all new stuff for their new home. Sorry, if that hit home for you moms and dads but their dorm room is going to be their new home from September through May and while that might be hard to digest, it's the truth! It's an exciting and somewhat scary time, but let's keep things exciting and positive here!
Their dorm room should be comfortable, young, vibrant, organized and most importantly, motivating. There are SO many options out there for low cost dorm-friendly furnishings...almost too many options to be honest.
So, I thought offering this shopping list and accompanied mood board would streamline what can be an EXHAUSTING process.
Below you'll find a full shopping list of furnishings that I think any young lady would love for their new home away from home. This is also a fun way to get your daughter or even son, because there are many things on here that are gender neutral, involved in the process but in a more relaxed and less anxiety driven way. Because again, who wants to be scrambling around the crazy aisles of Target or Ikea in the middle of "back to school" season?! Hah, I'd personally rather sit poolside with a mommy sippy cup full of Sauv Blanc. Yup, that's a real thing.
