5 Easy Ways To Decorate Your Home For Spring + Summer

5 Easy Ways To Decorate Your Home For Spring + Summer

The warmer weather and sunshine are finally here and I could not be more ecstatic. If you live in New England or anywhere else where you experience the change of seasons, you quickly realize how amazing the warmth and sunshine feel after a long, cold and snowy winter.

You can finally open the windows, eat al fresco in your yard or if you're like me on your small city deck, and hopefully swap out your winter home décor for pieces that are more suitable for spring and summer.

My Top Paint Selecting Tips

My Top Paint Selecting Tips

Paint is one of my favorite ways to update a space on a budget and within a relatively quick turnaround. Whether you plan to hire it out or paint on your, it's definitely an update that can stop you in your tracks because the results can be that good!

Paint is also really easy to screw up - no pressure or anything! No but seriously, paint is a super easy cosmetic update but it's important to follow some basic guidelines while you're in the decision making phase. Often times people don't take into account the different factors that can ultimately make your fresh, new paint job come out not so great or even worse, not how you imagined.

Beacon Hill Apartment - Before + After

Beacon Hill Apartment - Before + After

I've worked on some pretty amazing spaces but this one in particular holds a special spot for me. My client, a young professional living in a rental in the most charming area of Boston - Beacon Hill. Let me just repeat, her apartment is a rental.

When people rent they often feel as though there's "no point in making it their own" or that their options to improve the space are "limited". I am writing this post for all of you people who think these things. WHY on earth live anywhere that you're not going to make your own in at least a few small ways, regardless of the circumstances? Whether you have little space, live in a rental, have messy kids (they're all messy!), there are ways to improve your home and ultimately make the space one that is true to YOU without needing to do anything too ground breaking.

Ikea Kallax Hack

Ikea Kallax Hack

I have to admit, I'm not the most crafty person. If it involves paint, spray paint, some light sanding, stain or just replacing existing parts for new, prettier parts then I am all in! But I am definitely not about to go build a wall of built-ins. That may or may not be because we don't have a proper workspace like a garage, to prep materials though. So who knows maybe my crafting skills will beef up when we have the space to really build and get our hands dirty. We'll see!
